Anna Eliot

Anna Eliot has lived at Shepley Farm on Longley Road since her birth in 1949. The farm was originally an apple orchard when her grandmother purchased it in the 1930s. The property was remade into a stable with riding trails after WWII. Anna became a skilled equestrienne and held positions as a head instructor, a judge, and a National Examiner for the U.S. Pony Club.

She has served the Town of Groton in elected positions, including the Select Board, the Planning Board, and presently the Parks Commission. She has also been on the Board of the Groton Historical Society and a member of the Groton Garden Club.

Anna recounts the family land donation to conservation (Shepley Hills), local organizations like the Groton Hunt, and notable citizens such as Mrs. Marion Danielson, whose generous charitable support made important institutions like the local hospital possible.

As to the future, Anna strongly advocates preserving land and supporting local farms and our vibrant cultural environment.
