Alex Woodle

Alexander Woodle was born in Cambridge in 1944 and grew up in Brookline. Alex spent his summers at the Lost Lake Region beginning in 1949. He settled in Groton after completing his graduate studies in the 1970s.

He has over 100 years of in-depth knowledge of the lake region through his family’s direct association since the 1920s. Alex advocates for preserving Groton’s ponds and lakes.

In this conversation, he recounted the early days of summer camps, the history of the lake, the influx of people from the nearby cities, the tight- knit lake community, and the interaction with the Groton Town Center.

He also reflected on the recent impact of climate change, the invasive plants, PFAS, and the Nashua River Watershed work.
